Mrs. Amy Allen Land, 85, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at her home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 6th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home, and on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Amy was born May 9, 1938, in Louisville, MS. She was a graduate of Louisville High School, and Mississippi State University. She taught school for many years, at Winston Academy, Louisville Public Schools, Grace Christian School, and GED classes at East Central Community College. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where she served in many positions, including choir, handbells and music department, and Sunday School teacher, among others. She was active in Junior Auxiliary and a strong supporter and leader with the Girls Scouts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Land; and her parents, Roger Lee and Grace Landrum Allen.
Amy is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Parker of Louisville; a son, Hal (Leanne) Land of LaGrange, TN; two brothers, Jerry Allen of Phoenix, AZ, and John Allen of Memphis, TN; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Parker, Logan Land, Greyson Land, Steve Wiggs, Chip Land, and Mike Land.
