Elbert Johnson

Elbert Johnson, 88, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Baptist Medical Center Attala in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Monday, October 11 at 11 a.m. in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Smith officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow the service in Memorial Cemetery.

Elbert was born August 17, 1933, to Henry and Willie Mae Smyth Johnson. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Elbert retired from Taylor Machine Works and spent his time enjoying his cattle. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army during World War II.

Elbert is survived by his brother Walter “Dub” Johnson and wife Lou of Louisville. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Helen Clytee Rush, Christine “Bitsy” Cannizaro, Margaret Terry, Hubert Johnson, and William “Bill” Johnson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Cannizaro, Hugh Johnson, Miles Johnson, Pete Johnson, Pat Rush, and Jeff Terry.
