Max Lucas Ingram, 91, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, at his residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Rook and Bro. Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Noxapater. The family urges everyone to please observe all safety precautions concerning COVID-19.
Max was born September 18, 1929, to Walton and Beatrice Lucas Ingram in Winston County, Mississippi. He was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served for 52 years as an active deacon before becoming an inactive deacon due to health reasons. Prior to Liberty Baptist Church, he attended West End Baptist Church where he served two years as an active deacon. Max had many interests and worked at Brooklyn Field Air Force Base in Mobile, Alabama, at Watkins Ford Tractor in Louisville, and with the U. S. Forestry Service in Ackerman caring for the Tombigbee National Forest. He also worked at the American Creosote Works in Louisville and was a farmer, serving as a member of the local Cattleman's Association.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Jewel Lewis Ingram of Noxapater. He is also survived by his children: Ammon Ingram and wife Marylou also of Noxapater, Barney Ingram and wife Renee of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Ray Ingram and wife Wanda of Morton, Mississippi, and Evelyn Robinson and husband Mark of Noxapater. One of his greatest joys was being “Papaw Max” to his 11 grandchildren, 21great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother Jimmy (Catherine) Ingram of Moss Point, Mississippi, sister Joyce Parks of Gulfport, Mississippi, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Max was preceded in death by an infant son and his parents.
Serving as pallbearers are Billy Joe Carter, Hal Estes, Lee Gardner, Steve Jones, Garland Smith, Damon Villalpando, and Chet Wilkes. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Liberty Baptist Church.
