Betty Lou Brooks passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at her residence, in Mathiston, MS. She was born on March 31, 1939, in Mathiston, MS, to Alton and Leevie (Reed) Nickels. She was 81 years old. Mrs. Brooks was a retired secretary for Starkville LP Gas.

Private graveside services will be held at Blythe Creek Cemetery near Mathiston, MS, on Friday, May 22, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by 1 son, Tony Brooks of Mathiston, MS, 1 daughter, Sharon Brooks of Mathiston, MS, 1 sister, Faye Ray(William) of Maben, MS, 2 granddaughters, Katie(Joel) Coleman of Starkville, MS, Brook(Jonathan) Miller of Birmingham, AL, 3 great-grandsons, Cal & Cade Coleman of Starkville, MS, Reed Miller of Birmingham, AL, and awaiting the arrival of the first great-granddaughter in September, Chloe Kate Coleman.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Cedric Brooks, her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
