Johnny E. Haimes

Johnny E. Haimes, age 79, passed away surrounded by his loving family Saturday, January 18, 2020, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville and one hour prior to the service on Friday at Gum Branch Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 24, at Gum Branch Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Blanchard officiating. Graveside services and interment will immediately follow the service in Bevill Hill Cemetery.

Johnny was born May 27, 1940, to William Walker and Beatrice Powell Haimes in Winston County, Mississippi. He was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church. For 34.5 years, he devoted himself to roadwork in District 1 of Winston County. He loved being involved in road work for the County and enjoyed driving and supervising the dump trucks. Johnny also enjoyed playing video games with his grandchildren and liked constructing buildings. He would help anyone who needed help; giving them whatever they needed regardless of his needs.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Joyce Prisock Haimes of Louisville; his daughter Kawanna Kay Parsons and husband Douglas of Rochester, Indiana; and step-daughter Rosie Bradford also of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to his four grandchildren: Melissa Smith, Timothy Smith, Bryan Smith, and Kaleb Haimes; as well as his two great-grandchildren Hailey Miller and Mackenzie Robison. He is also survived by two brothers Jeffy (Dot) Hames and Billy (Elsie) Haimes in addition to his nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter Cindy Lanae Haimes; his parents; and his sister Bettye Youngblood.
