Faye Hensley Murphy

Faye Hensley Murphy, 87, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019, at her residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3 at Noxapater Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Fondren officiating. A private family interment will be scheduled at a later date.

Faye was born February 13, 1932, to Thomas and Margaret Martin Hensley. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. After becoming a registered nurse, she worked at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson and in Cleveland, Mississippi. Faye enjoyed working in her flowers and following her son who played baseball.

Faye is survived by her son Rick Murphy; her sister Mary J. “Tenie” Quinn; and her brother Nick Hensley and wife Patricia all of Noxapater. One of her greatest joys was time spent with her four grandchildren: Rikki (Glen) Rickles, Lei-Anne Murphy, Andy (Tara) Murphy, and Stephen (Lauren) Murphy. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Lily Todd, Addison Vestal, Ford Murphy, Mary Hensley Murphy, McKenzley Milbrand, Ella Murphy, Parker Murphy, and Leland Murphy. Faye is also survived by her devoted caregiver Dixie Moore; who was her best friend growing up and became more like a sister to her. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Anderson Murphy, Jr.; her son Steve Murphy; her parents; her sister Ann Holdiness; and two brothers Thomas L. and Martin Hensley.
