JoAnn was born March 26, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Frank and Christine Kelly Parker. She was of the Baptist faith. JoAnn was a woman of many talents. Having a “green thumb”, she loved working in her plants and flowers. She raised and kenneled small breed specialty dogs becoming very attached to the puppies. JoAnn had a large aquarium and got great pleasure watching her fish and she also enjoyed her wall of crosses in her house.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Elvis Jennings of Lexington, Mississippi; two daughters, Melissa Cherry Coleman and husband, Brian, of Louisville; and Cathy Jo Jennings of Bentonia, Mississippi; and her son, Elvis Jennings, Jr. of Madison, Mississippi. She also leaves behind her sister, Frankie Johns and husband, Bob; and two brothers, Leroy Parker; and Barry Parker and wife, Paula, all of Louisville; as well as a special friend Terry Gibson, of Lexington. One of her greatest joys was being “Nannie” to her nine grandchildren: Gage Cherry; Ryan Cherry; Houston Jennings and wife, Ruby; Beau, Kaylee, Emma, Stella Jennings, Lance Coleman, and Brianna Coleman. JoAnn was preceded in death by Melissa’s father, Billy C. White; her daughter, Melanie Peterson; and her parents.
