Mr. Raymond Norris

Mr. Raymond Norris, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, in the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Chapel with Mr. Larry Norris officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, Mississippi.


Raymond was born March 23, 1924, in Louisville to Otis and Stella Strawbridge Norris. Currently, he was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church and he was a retired business owner. He was formerly a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada where he served as a deacon and in other capacities. Raymond was a Mason, a member of the Eastern Star, a Gideon, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW). He answered the call of his country by serving as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy.


Raymond is survived by his wife, Juanice S. Norris of McCool, Mississippi; his daughter, Elizabeth Wood and husband, Charlie; two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife who was the mother of his daughter, Mary Agnes Norris; his parents; four brothers: Hollis, Irving, Jimmy, and Clovis Norris; and two sisters, Bernice Morgan and Hilda Mae Bennett.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Raymond be given to Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, c/o Annabelle Dunlap, 1284 Spay Road, McCool, MS 39108; or to Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Patty Hatten, 394 Hopewell-McCool Road, McCool, MS 39108; or to the charity of your choice.
