Roma Ree Goodin

Roma Ree Goodin, 76, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Gross officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery.

Roma Ree was born June 4, 1939, to Amilton and Alice Rogers Whitehead. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and she co-owned and worked at Goodin’s Steakhouse in Louisville for 20 years. She was also an avid swimmer and she loved her adopted dog, “little Chris”.

Roma Ree is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack Goodin; her daughter, Lisa Goodin; and her brother, Truman Whitehead and wife, Rubye all of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma Ree” to her grandchildren: Jason Warner and wife, Kristi, also of Louisville; and Lindsay Moody and husband, Chris, of Ellisville, Mississippi; as well as five great-grandchildren: Kevin, Levi, and Logan Warner; and Kaydence and Jacob Moody. She was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Goodin; and her parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Crowson, Gerald Ray Goodin, Buddy Gregory, Larry Reece, Don Rogers, Gary Whitehead, Kenny Whitehead, and Kevin Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers will be Truitt Breazeale, Robert Goodin, Wayne Goodin, Lloyd Heard, Bennie Mac Joiner, Greg Rogers, Keith Rogers, and Jessie Whitehead.
