Mr. Robert Cecil "Billy" Baker, 79, passed away on June 30, 2013, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church onWednesday, July 3, 2013, with Rev. Brett Golson and Rev. Rob Faulk officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Baker was born on October 1, 1933, to Avery A. and Jewell Carpenter Baker. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Louisville. He answered the call to serve his country by serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was also a Mason, a Shiner, and a volunteer Fireman. He served on the local Board of Alderman and was the owner of Baker Ready Mix for 34 years.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Peggy Kemp Baker; his sons, Billy Don Baker and wife, Cindy, and Bobby Baker and wife, Tracey, all of Louisville; and his daughter, Kathy Martin and husband, Allen, of West Point, Mississippi. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy McDowell and husband, Billy, also of Louisville. Mr. Baker has seven grandchildren: Brooke Baker, Brock Baker, Christopher Baker, Cortland Baker, Alison Mathis, Susan and Lamar Hodges, and Michael Martin; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Baker is preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Roy Baker.
Serving as pallbearers will be J. B. Blanset, Mark Covington, Cully Hudspeth, Rudy Johnson, Clay Moore, Buddy Prisock, and Tom Simmons. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Baker Ready Mix Employees.

Joe Ed Curtis
Mr. Joe Ed Curtis, 65, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at his home in Louisville, MS, with his wife and caregiver by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Childs and Rev. Bill Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Ruby Conerly Ballard
Ruby Conerly Ballard, 77, passed away, on June 26, 2013, at her home, in Pickensville, Alabama. She was born February 24, 1936, in Monroe County, MS, the daughter of the late Preston Johnston and Ethel Adelaide Bush Conerly. She was the Bookkeeper for Ballard and Hudspeth Construction Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pickensville, AL, and a member of the West Point Red Hat Society.
She married Edward Stinson Ballard, Sr. on January 10, 1953, and he passed away January 20, 2007. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son: Edward Stinson Ballard, Jr; by four sisters: Emma Roebuck, Mamie Jackson, Marjorie Conerly, and Joanne Westbrook; and by four brothers: Preston, Walter, Lonnie, and Willie Conerly.

Otis Lynn Kilpatrick Caperton
Mrs. Otis Lynn Kilpatrick Caperton, born in Noxapater, Mississippi, on October 31, 1920, went to be at home with the Lord on June 17, 2013. She was married to Ralph G. Caperton, who preceded her in death in 1998. They made their home in Louisville since 1946.
She is survived by her son, Richard Ralph “Dickie” Caperton and his wife, Martha, and her daughter, Edna Joy Caperton Prisock and her husband, Judge Ed Prisock; grandchildren - Nora Gay Caperton Hendrix and husband, Scott; Roger Caperton and wife, Jennie; Jessica Prisock Madison and husband, Zachary; and Robert Prisock; great grandchildren - Sidney and Hoyt Hendrix, and David, Hayes, Ben and Cole Caperton, all of Louisville. She was looking forward to the approaching birth of her great granddaughter, Mary Grace Madison. Otis is also survived by her siblings: Bessie Joy Wall, Rebecca Becton, and Bill Kilpatrick. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Roger and Bessie Pollard Kilpatrick; and siblings Pollard Kilpatrick, Dr. T. R. Kilpatrick, Jr. and Emma Haze Kilpatrick.
Otis has been a member of First United Methodist Church in Louisville for 67 years. She has served God in many capacities in the church during these years. Her generosity, hospitality, love and prayers will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation with the family will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, 6/19, at First United Methodist Church, until the 11:00 funeral hour. Service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Childs with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Service and burial will be under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Louisville. Mr. Womble was born February 10, 1925, in Louisville, MS. He was retired as chief engineer on a towboat on the Mississippi River. He lived in Memphis for 33 years, and moved back to Winston County in 1987. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beryl Holton Womble of Louisville; two daughters, Beverly Parker of Houston, TX, and Deborah Myers of Park City, Utah; a sister, Bonnie (Elmer) Durden of Pascagoula, MS; a brother, Wallace (Doris) Womble of Pascagoula, MS; and a granddaughter, Meredith Marie (Christian) Christensen.

Thursday, June 13, 2013 from the Bibleway Pentecostal Church in Louisville, Mississippi. Burial will take place in the Bibleway Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Mrs. Delma Ruth Slawson, 77, of Louisville, MS, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. Visitation will be Monday, June 10 from 5 to 8 pm
at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia. The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 11 at 2 pm the funeral home chapel with Rev. T.J. Jennings and Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Winston County.
She was a longtime resident of Louisville where she retired from Spartus and Angelica Uniforms. Mrs. Slawson was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Collinsville.
Survivors include daughters, Teresa (Ken) Parker of Quitman, Joanne Parker of Collinsville and Renea (Kevin) Wilson of Philadelphia; son, Ricky (Teresa) Burns of Ridgeland; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Dean Johnson of Noxapater, Christine Yates of Louisville, Gladys Drury and Josephine Quinn, both of Noxapater, Sammie Mae Hemphill, Allie Jean Bozeman and Ann Jenkins, all of Philadelphia and Rosemary Brady of Ada, Oklahoma; brothers, Richard Smith, Garland Smith, Bobby Joe Smith, Rex Smith and Paul Smith, all of Noxapater and a host of nieces, nephews and their families.
Mrs. Slawson was preceded in death by her spouses, Willie Joe Slawson and Willis J. Burns and her brother, Jimmy Don Smith.

Wanda Shaw
Mrs. Wanda Sue Shaw, 79, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 10th, at Macedonia Baptist Church, with Rev. Hubert Yates officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shaw was born November 1, 1933, in Michigan. She was a retired seamstress with TRW, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Her favorite hobby was gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis Shaw; and a son, Greg Shaw.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Clinton) Mills of Louisville; four sons, Delbert M. Shaw of Jackson, MS, James Curtis Shaw, Jr. of Thailand, Ken Shaw of Atlanta, GA, and Ricky Shaw of Louisville; a brother, Benny Weems of California; 12 grandchildren, Mary Denley, Allen Shaw, Jeremy Shaw, Nicholas Shaw, Josh Mills, Elena Mills, Kim Eaves, Christy Shaw, Robbie Shaw (dec), Justin Mills (dec), Kelly Shaw, and Daniel Shaw; and 7 great grandchildren, Connor Denley, Athena Shaw, Ryley Mills, Colton Mills, Brayden Gilbert, Aubrey Eaves, and Jayce Shaw.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
