Mrs. Barbara Ray Stanford, 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Louisville Healthcare Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 7, 2013, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment will follow in Bethsaida Cemetery in MontgomeryCounty.
Mrs. Stanford was born on April 5, 1935, to Emmett Clay and Grace O’Neil Ray. She worked at McGregor Shirt Factory in Winona, Mississippi, and at the Ladies Harbor House, which is an alcohol and drug treatment facility for women in Jackson, Mississippi.
She is survived by her daughter, Gwyn Stanford Young and her sons, Tony Stanford and wife, Sue, all of Louisville, and Arvil Ray Stanford and wife, Kathrine, of Marietta, Georgia. Mrs. Stanford is survived by six grandchildren: Anthony Novak Stanford, Theresa Grace Stanford Lachaussee, Joshua Lee Stanford, Rob Ellington, Brandi Burdine, and William Ramage; and by nine great-grandchildren: Vaughn Anthony Stanford, Sam Burdine, Sam Gunnin, Thomas Gunnin, Peyton Ellington, Max Burdine, Brittan Burdine, Sebby Gunnin, and Coby Snyder. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Arvil Stanford; her daughter, Barbara Kaye Stanford Kennedy; her granddaughter, Tonya Snyder, and her parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Stanford, Josh Stanford, William Ramage, Sam Burdine, Sam Gunnin, and Robert Ellington. Memorials may be given to Bethsaida BaptistChurch, c/o Twyla Ferguson, 516 Bethsaida Road, French Camp, MS 39745.
