Edward C. Waldron, Sr., age 87, entered into the joy of his Lord on Saturday, January 19. Funeral services will be conducted at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 22. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Edward Waldron was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother and sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia Willard Waldron, and by his four children, sons, Edward, Jr. (Linda) and Charles (Dianne), and daughters Carolyn Reese (Bill) and Kathy Goudelock (George). He is also survived by his12 grandchildren and their spouses, Alison Whitney (Chandler), Jennie Caperton (Roger), Mary Esther Slater (Steven), Virginia Lyerly, Lindsey Lyerly (Meredith), John Goudelock (Michelle), Clare Goudelock Steele (Andy), Mark Goudelock, Philip Waldron, Vance Waldron (Kala), Adam Waldron (Erin) and Carrie Waldron, and by 15 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his niece, Cary Brown (Bruce), and their daughter, Tiffany, and his brother-in-law, Harry Willard (Daisy) and several cousins.
Edward Waldron was a native of Babson Park, Florida, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Louisville. He also served as an elder in several Presbyterian churches through the years and immediately prior to moving to Louisville was a member of the Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Newport, TN. In addition, he proudly served his country as a member of the US Army Air Force and US Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
For much of his career, Edward Waldron was a principal in Waldron Grove Service, Davie, FL, completing his career in citrus as a fruit buyer for Tropicana Products, Bradenton, FL.
Edward Waldron was a devoted follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a loving and godly husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Dr. Sam Suttle and to the staffs of the Winston County Nursing Home and Medical Center for their dedicated care, and also to Rev. Scott Phillips, First Presbyterian Church, Brother Mike Childs, First United Methodist Church, and to the men's visitation team from Poplar Flats Baptist Church for their warm friendship and faithful ministry and Christian counsel.
Memorials may be made to the churches as listed or to the charity of the donor's choice.
