Rita Hemphill Hall


Mrs. Rita Hemphill Hall, 63, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at her home in Noxubee County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 2nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. David Keen officiating. Interment will be in Sardis Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hall was born October 29, 1948, in Louisville, MS. She was beautician and a cashier at Piggly Wiggly for many years. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Reed Hemphill.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie Hall of Macon, MS; her father, James Hemphill of Macon. MS; one daughter, Tammy Fulton of Macon, MS; three step-daughters, Donna Williams of Oklahoma City, OK, Sherry Akins of Gordo, AL, and Amanda Price of Louisville, MS; one sister, Marlene Lentz of Hazel Park, MI; one brother, Johnny Hemphill of Louisville, MS; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Palmer, Jerry Hemphill, Jason Hemphill, Danny Marlon, James Johnson, and Marty Ray.

Ronald Eiler Yarbrough

Ronald Eiler "Ron" Yarbrough, 40, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, in Houlka. He was born Oct. 19, 1971. He was employed at Affordable Furniture Co. of Pontotoc.
Services were Wednesday, May 23, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. David Blackwell officiating. Burial was in Pontotoc City Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Yarbrough, daughters, Amber Cox and Lacey Yarbrough, and son, Ryan Yarbrough, all of Houlka; his father, Jim (Charlanne) Yarbrough of Canton; his mother, Cherilyn (Joe) Steadman of Pontotoc; his stepgrandmother, Louise Daniels of Pontotoc; two sisters, Tara (Jimmy) Woodward of Louisville and Ginny Kennedy of Madison; a brother, Jamie Yarbrough of Pontotoc; two stepsisters, Lisa Davis and Rivers Burda; and a stepbrother, Lee Bounds; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Tynna Yarbrough; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Yarbrough, Theron Daniels and Ferrel Daniels.
Pallbearers were Todd Holloway, Randy Holloway, Tucker Holloway, Richard Holladay, Bobby Roye, Brent Foster, Duane Johnson and Charlie Gillespie. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Ball, Jeff Whitten, Ronald Hendrix and Alan Holloway.

Mrs. Bettie Bennett, 78, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi.  Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Monday, May 21, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.  Born on January 21, 1934, Mrs. Bennett was a member of West Union Presbyterian Church.  She retired from Bennett’s Quik Chek, which she owned with her husband. 
 Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dale C. Bennett; her daughter, Jennie Bennett Hodges and husband, Terry, of Ridgeland, Mississippi; and her son, Andy Bennett of Louisville, Mississippi.  She is also survived by two sisters:  Beth Williams McCoy and Janie Strain both of Houston, Texas, as well as her brother, Jack Williams of Bay City, Texas.  Mrs. Bennett has two grandchildren:  Orry Clark Hodges and Matthew Robert Hodges.  She is preceded in death by her son, Clark Bennett; and her parents, Mack Andrew “Red” and Ora Jane Steed Williams.

Mrs. Livingston was born November 12, 1922, in Carthage, Missouri. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. Judy was dedicated to her church and family, and her hobbies included gourmet cooking and ceramics. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Livingston.
She is survived by her son, Kimball (Lourdes) Livingston of San Francisco, CA; a granddaughter, Julia Jet Livingston; and three sisters, Nellie Hewitt of Medford, OR, Bonnie Odell of Meridian, ID, and Maxine Mayclin of Altadena, CA.

Mrs. Evelyn Williamson, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in LouisvilleMississippi.  Visitation will be at Harmony Baptist Church in Louisville,Mississippi, on Sunday, May 20, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until service time.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Born on May 5, 1932, Mrs. Williamson was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.  She was a graduate of Calhoun School and later she retired from Winston Medical Center after working in both the Food Service and Purchasing Departments. 

Mrs. Williamson is survived by three sisters:  Carolyn Watson and husband, Billy, of Louisville, Mississippi; Brenda Dawkins and husband, Douglas, of Columbus, Mississippi; and Lynette Gossett and husband, Bennie, of Olive Branch, Mississippi;  as well as one brother, Gerald Hatcher of Louisville, Mississippi.  She is also survived by seven nieces:  Pat Blanton, Teresa Ming, Leigh Anne Henry, Christy Wright, Denise Hocutt, Stacey Hall and Kerri Cobb.  Mrs. Williamson also has two nephews:  Danny Hatcher and Dwayne Hatcher and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvis Williamson; her parents, David Kemp and Vera Mosley Hatcher; and her brother, Delynn Hatcher.

Quinton J. Sullivan

Quinton J. "QJ" Sullivan, 92, passed from this world on Friday, May 11, 2012. He was born in Louisville, Mississippi, on October 12, 1919, to James Edward Sullivan and Minnie Luke Sullivan. He was a hard working man who never wanted to retire. He enjoyed every day during his time with International Harvester. Quinton was also co-owner of Mercury Transportation. When he was not spending his time at Mercury, he would also work as a Gentleman Farmer. QJ proudly served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crosby as well as a Mason and a "man of the stock market". Quinton was a loving husband and father, and believed very strongly in taking care of family.
He is preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Quinton is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois Sullivan, and his daughter, Sandra and husband, Eric W. Moerbe. He is also survived by grandchildren, Capt. Wesley Alan Moerbe, US Army; Angela Dawn Layne and her husband, Chris; great grandson, Noah Layne, as well as many great friends.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, May 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Harold Franklin Palone

Mr. Harold Franklin Palone, 80, died Sunday, May 13, at Choctaw County Hospital in Ackerman, MS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16th, at 2:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mr. Palone was born April 10th, 1932, in Albuquerque, NM. He was a retired accountant for the Federal Government, a member of Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Mathiston, and served in the U.S. Army during The Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy McClear; and his brother, Ray Palone. He is survived by his wife, Emmajean Palone of Ackerman, MS; four daughters, Pat Witten of Greenville, SC, Penelope Anne Palone of Phoenix, AZ, Loretta Peery of Charleston, SC, and Vickie McClear of Louisville, MS; three sons, Frank McClear of Greenville, SC, Rick McClear of Tulsa, OK, and Thomas McClear of Louisville, MS; two step-sons, William Nelson of Louisville, MS, and John Nelson of Canton, OH; one brother, Ed Palone of Seattle, WA; 26 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

James M. Hardy


Mr. James M. Hardy 86, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at his home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 16th, at East Louisville Baptist Church, with Rev. Mason Joy officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Hardy was born January 8, 1926, in Memphis, TN. He was retired after 31 years as a supervisor for Ford Motor Company. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners; and was very active in fundraising for the Shriners Hospital. He was a member of East Louisville Baptist Church, and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Onie Mae and Otis Hardy; a grandson, Timothy Wayne Coleman, Jr.; and three brothers, Glen, William, and Bev Hardy.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Hardy of Louisville; three daughters, Lynn (Terry) Markham of Gainesville, FL, and Kathleen Oldham, and Lorraine (Tim) Coleman, both of Louisville, MS; two sons, Jeffrey Hardy of Columbia, TN, and David (Louann) Hardy of Virginia Beach, VA; five sisters, Carrie Stringfellow of Pass Christian, MS, Franci Hardy of Gautier, MS, Betty Murray of California, Bennie Sue Werstler of Bay Minette, AL, and Etheleen Werstler of N. Canton, OH; three brothers, Thelbert Hardy of Fernandina Beach, FL, Damon Hardy of Orlando, FL, and Inman Hardy of Louisville, MS; 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Allyne Statham

Marie Allyne Statham died peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 10, 2012. She was born in Norfolk, VA. to Reverend and Mrs. Charles Roberts. She was a graduate of Mt. Olive (MS) High School and the Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis, TN. She worked as a clinical nursing instructor in Little Rock, AR. and as a registered for many years. She married Kenneth Wayne Statham in 1955 and his work took them to Jackson, MS., Birmingham, AL., Dallas, TX., and New Orleans, LA. They settled in Louisville, MS. in 1970 and reared their four children. They owned and operated the Western Auto Store and Allyne's Dress Shop until their retirement. Marie Allyne was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Belle Arts Club, Baptist Nurses Fellowship, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and many other church and civic organizations.She was an avid gardener and bridge player. She moved to Fletcher, NC., in 2005 and made many friends through her church, neighborhood and volunteer organizations. She was engaged and very active in the lives of her friends and family even while battling leukemia. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and especially delighted in family reunions and vacations. Marie Allyne was a model of graciousness and encouragement to all who knew her.
Marie was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Marie Statham, and her husband, Kenneth. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Davis of Dothan, AL. and Gay Lynn Fox of Fletcher, NC; a son-in-law J. Price 'Happy' Fox, of Fletcher, NC and a son, Kenneth Wayne Statham, Jr. of Jackson, MS; as well as four grandchildren, Clark Davis, Elizabeth Davis, Jess Fox, and John Fox.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Samaritan's Purse International or Four Seasons Hospice of Hendersonville, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 15th, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Billy Bowie officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dr. Gary Holdiness, 54, of Kosciusko, MS passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Attala County.
A candlelight ceremony will be held at 8:00 pm Monday, May 7, 2012 at Redbud Springs Park in Kosciusko. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 11 am to 4 pm at First Presbyterian Church with services following at 5 pm. There will be a private committal service held at 6:30 pm at Salem Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS. Dr. Holdiness was a member of First Presbyterian Church, he graduated from Ole Miss in Oxford, MS and UMC in Jackson, MS and did his residency at Selma Medical Center in Selma, AL. He was in the Air National Guard and was an avid cyclist.
He is preceded in death by son Matthew Holdiness and father Hubert Holdiness. Elizabeth Price

Mrs. Elizabeth Price, 76, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Newton.
The funeral service was Monday, May 7th at 2 pm at Noxapater Baptist Church.
She was a native of the Conehatta Community of Newton County but had been a longtime resident of Noxapater. She was retired from Wells-Lamont Corp. in Philadelphia. Mrs. Price was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church and a member of the Sammy Carter Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, Mozell Price of Noxapater; daughters, Linda Alexander (Larry) of Louisville and Debbie Duran (Ronnie) of Noxapater; son, Danny Price (Teresa) of Noxapater; grandchildren, Brandi Darby (Matt), Josh Duran (Audria), Jessi Alford (Kory) and Danielle Price; great-grandchildren, Kooper Lane Darby, Dee Duran, Alexis Duran and Kyler Alford; sisters, Nell Ledlow of Decatur and Margene Willett of Meridian; brothers, Gerald Mitchell of Decatur and Harlan Mitchell of Baton Rouge, AL; a host of nieces, nephews and their families.

George C. McCully

George C. McCully passed away peacefully on May 2, 2012, in Denver, Colorado. Born, Febuary 29, 1924, in Louisville, MS, to Everett Falcon McCully and Myrrah Reid McCully, he is survived by has daughter Beth McCully Stallsworth, son-in-law, Bruce Stallsworth and granddaughter Catherine Claire of Denver, CO. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Margery Woodside McCully and brothers, Reid, William and sister, Sarah Boyd. After graduating from Louisville High School in 1942, he attended Mississippi State for 2 years before joining the Merchant Marines as a radio operator during World War II. After the war he returned to Mississippi State and graduated in 1948 with an Engineering Degree. He retired as State Security Manager from Bell South in 1987 after working for 37 years. 
He was a member of Galloway United Methodist Church of Jackson. He was also an active member of the Exchange Club of Jackson for many years. 
Visitation will be at 10am on Monday, May 7th and a graveside service will be held at 11am at Lakewood Memorial Cemetary 
In lieu of flowers a memorial to your favorite charity would be appreciated. 

Mable Pugh Barron

Mrs. Mable Pugh Barron, 74, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at University Medical Center in JacksonMississippi.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Sturgis Cemetery in SturgisMississippi, with Rev. Charles Rook officiating. 
     Born on March 10, 1938, Mrs. Barron was a member of Sturgis Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.
     Mrs. Barron is survived by three daughters:  Judy Smith and husband, James, of Columbus,Mississippi; June Barron of League CityTexas; and Lou Barron of Maine; as well as one son, Dr. Jimmy Barron of RaymondMississippi.  She is also survived by three brothers:  Walter Ed Pugh and wife, Shelia; W. O. “Bully” Pugh; and James Rives Pugh and wife, Carol, all of LouisvilleMississippi. Mrs. Barron has nine grandchildren:  Alana Meadows, Jerod Smith, Mary Tabor Barron, Benjamin Mack Barron, Kayla Robison, Patrick Smith, Bianca Jaramillo, Dax Jaramillo, and Austin Jaramillo and three great-grandchildren:  Brennan Gable, Bryson Gable and Kali Meadows.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Mack W. “Buddy” Barron; her daughter, Dorothy Jane Barron; her parents, Jolly Howard and Thelma Estell Rives Pugh; and three brothers, Jolly Howard Pugh, John Thomas Pugh, and Gerald “G. Francis Butler

Mr. Francis Butler, 67, died Monday, May 7, 2012, in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 10th, at Butler Pentecostal Church in Noxubee County, with Rev. Gerald Butler, Rev. Larry Haggard, and Rev. Gina Mitchell officiating. Mr. Butler was born June 29, 1944 in Noxubee County. He was a business owner in Jackson for over 40 years. Under a tough exterior, Francis was a funny, sweet, generous, kind man who loved fishing with his grandchildren and cooking for his family. With his extraordinary mechanical skills, he could fix anything from a broken toy to a wrecked NASCAR. He was the VP of Magnolia College of Cosmetology and owner of Southland Auto Service. He was a former Hinds County Deputy Sheriff. He was preceded in death by his son, Marty Jon Butler; a sister, Betty Ann Carter, and a brother, Malcolm McBrayer. Mrs. Mary Cleta Forsythe, 71, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Louisville Healthcare. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 7th, at Flower Ridge United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mrs. Forsythe was born February 15, 1941, in Arthur, Tennessee. She was a homemaker and former owner of the Ole Rebel Café. She was a member of Flower Ridge United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Allan Forsythe of Louisville; a son, Greg (Penny) Forsythe of Louisville, a daughter, Diana (Joe ) Crocker of Brandon, MS; 4 grandchildren, Phillip Forsythe, Michael Crocker, Adrienne Forsythe, and Austin Forsythe; and 1 great grandchild, Kimberlynn Faith Warren.

Mary Lee Judy Davenport Wells, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Winston County Nursing Home, Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral Service will be Saturday, at 2 p.m., from Trinity Church of God In Christ, Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday, from 12 noon until 6 p.m., from Beck Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church on Saturday, one hour before service time.

Emma Dean Catledge

 

On May 2, 2012, at Brandon Court, Mrs. Emma Dean Catledge (Paey), went home to be with the Lord. Born May 4, 1925, in Louisville, MS, to Sammy & Lena White, she is survived by three daughters, Dianne (Dan) Schmitz of Brandon, MS; Susan Younger of Brandon; and Jill (Ronnie) Johns of Louisville; three grandchildren, Nichole (Brad) McKenzie of Starkville, Paul (Lauren) Younger of Madison, and Lauren Fulton of Columbus, MS; two great grandchildren, Luke & Landon McKenzie; and a sister, Willie Faye Dawkins of Louisville. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Catledge and Jeff Peay; a brother, Billy White, and a sister, Sue Haimes. As a former employee of the Winston County Schools, she served as a cafeteria worker and a bus driver. She loved the children she worked with and enjoyed seeing them in the years following her retirement. She was longtime member of West Union Presbyterian Church and enjoyed many years of fellowshipping with her church family. Her greatest passion in life was loving people and serving them.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 5th, at Porter Funeral Home , with Rev. Boley Kent officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Catledge was a loving mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend, who enjoyed cooking and doing things for her family and others. She was avid gardener who will surely enjoy planting and tending beautiful flowers in Heaven. She also enjoyed quilting, crafts, sewing, and any creative hand projects.
Pallbearers will be Tony Jordan, Mark Cravens, Dunlap Catledge, Patrick Tomlinson, Brad McKenzie, and Paul Younger.

Mrs. Mattie Hodges White, 95, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 5th, at East Louisville Baptist Church, with Rev. Mason Joy officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home.
Mrs. White was born August 6, 1916, in Eupora, MS. She was a retired social worker for the Winston County Welfare Dept. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Louisville Lodge # 60, and a member of East Louisville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel Davis White; her parents, Mattie Roberson and Jim Ed Hodges; her brother, James Robert Hodges; and one nephew, Jim Watson.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lucille (Rupert) Watson of Eupora, MS; two step-sons, Joe (Anne) White of Tallahassee, FL, and Bud (Ellen) White of Mobile, AL; two nephews, Tom (Sharon) Watson of Knoxville, TN, and Jim Hodges of California; one niece, Charlene (Randy) Baskin of Covington, TN; 6 step-grandchildren; 6 great step-grandchildren; 8 great nieces and nephews; and 7 great great nieces and nephews.
