George C. McCully passed away peacefully on May 2, 2012, in Denver, Colorado. Born, Febuary 29, 1924, in Louisville, MS, to Everett Falcon McCully and Myrrah Reid McCully, he is survived by has daughter Beth McCully Stallsworth, son-in-law, Bruce Stallsworth and granddaughter Catherine Claire of Denver, CO. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Margery Woodside McCully and brothers, Reid, William and sister, Sarah Boyd. After graduating from Louisville High School in 1942, he attended Mississippi State for 2 years before joining the Merchant Marines as a radio operator during World War II. After the war he returned to Mississippi State and graduated in 1948 with an Engineering Degree. He retired as State Security Manager from Bell South in 1987 after working for 37 years.
He was a member of Galloway United Methodist Church of Jackson. He was also an active member of the Exchange Club of Jackson for many years.
Visitation will be at 10am on Monday, May 7th and a graveside service will be held at 11am at Lakewood Memorial Cemetary
