Bernice Wright

Mrs. Bernice Wright, 91, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving family in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Louisville, Mississippi, with Rev. Hubert Yates and Bro. Jack Manor officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Wright was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for more than 40 years. She also served as the church music director for many years and was the oldest living member of the Macedonia Baptist Church Choir. Mrs. Wright is survived by three daughters: Delores Nowell, Debby Luke, and husband, Frankie, all of Louisville, Mississippi, and Julie Carter and husband, Ken, of Madison, Mississippi; six sons: Kenneth Wright, and wife, Ouida, of Brandon, Mississippi, Kerry Wright and wife, Katherine, and Terry Wright and wife, Karla, all of South Haven, Mississippi, Randy Wright and wife, Jeanie, of Bartlett, Tennessee, Timothy Wright, and wife, Suzanne, of Madison, Mississippi, and Jeffery Wright of Louisville; two sisters, Margie Watson of Collinsville, Mississippi, and Ginger Ezelle, and husband, Rod, of Meridian, Mississippi; two brothers, Johnny Rogers and wife, Martha, of West Memphis, Arkansas and George Rogers, and wife, Pat, of Meridian, Mississippi. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Daren Nowell, Thomas Wright, Tyler Wright, Anita Lynn Tartt, Tammi Wright, Jason Stewart, Dulcie Cherry, Chase Hanna, Margaret Wright, Virginia Wright, Rachael Bounds, and Rebecca Carter. Mrs. Wright is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Cody Stewart, Gavin Tartt, Alyssa Presley, Blake Presley, Chloe Hanna, Kara Lane Nowell, and Anna Grace Cherry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Schoolar Wright; one son, Roger Eugene Wright; one grandchild, John Schoolar Carter; one great-grandchild, Maggie Rose Cherry; her parents, George T. and Annie Barnhill Rogers as well as five sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers will be Jason Stewart, Cody Stewart, Chase Hanna, Josh Bounds, Daren Nowell, Brandon Cherry, Joey Johns, Tyler Wright, Thomas Wright, and Blake Presley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church General Fund, 5070 Highway 397, Louisville, MS 39339. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS is handling the arrangements.
