Mr. Gilbert Higginbotham, 80, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Butler Pentecostal Church in Noxubee County, on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Butler Pentecostal Church with Rev. Gerald Butler and Rev. Allen Eaves officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Cemetery in Shuqualak, Mississippi. He was born June 14, 1930, to Johnny T. and Flora Butler Higginbotham. Mr. Higginbotham, a retired logger, was a member of the Butler Pentecostal Church. During World War II, he answered the call to serve his country in the U. S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Collins Higginbotham of Louisville, Mississippi; one daughter, Carolyn Rogers of Brandon, Mississippi; one son, Laverne Collins of Houston, Mississippi; one sister, Virginia Vernon and one brother, Reg Higginbotham both of Shuqualak, Mississippi; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny T. and Flora Butler Higginbotham and a brother, Lamar Higginbotham.

Pallbearers will be Robert Higginbotham, Wayne Eaves, Billy Rogers, Randy Martin, Ronnie Higginbotham, and John David Higginbotham. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, Mississippi, is handling local arrangements.

Miss Elisa Ann Paschal, 48, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Schumpert Highland Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Private family services will be held at Paschal Cemetery in Brandon, MS, at 11:00 A.M., on Monday, Feb. 28th, with Rev. Rick Hughes officiating. Porter Funeral Home of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
Lisa was born March 31, 1962 in Jackson, MS. She was a resident of Holy Angels School in Shreveport, LA, for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Price Paschal, Sr., and her brother, Price Paschal, Jr.
She is survived by her mother, Edith Taylor Paschal of Ridgeland, MS; a sister, Mary Edith (Chris) Shapley of Jackson, MS; a brother, John Taylor (Suzanne) Paschal of Louisville; MS; and four nephews, Price Davis, Taylor Paschal, Chaney Paschal, and Cameron Paschal.
The family would like to thank Holy Angels School for the love and care they gave to Lisa over all these years; and in lieu of flowers, would like memorials to be made to Holy Angels Residential Facility, 10450 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, LA, 71106.

Mr. Shannon L. Collins, 63, of Noxapater, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Thursday, February 24, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2011, at First Pentecostal Church of Noxapater, with Rev. Bobby Lowery and Rev. Fred Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery. He was born October 30, 1947, to Lamar and Lillian Lucille Kemp Collins. Mr. Collins was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Noxapater. He worked at Taylor Machine Works in Louisville in maintenance.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby King Collins; two daughters, Nichole Collins Coleman, and husband, Brandon, and Miranda Collins; two sons, Gregory Collins and Justin Collins; two sisters, Arlene Barrett and Joann Goodin; one brother, Wiley Collins; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Cooper Coleman all of Noxapater. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Collins.

Mr. Danny M. Walker, 62, of Starkville, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Select Speciality Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Rev. Fred Frazier and Rev. Bobby Joe Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Murphy Creek Cemetery. Mr. Walker was born August 19, 1948, to Woodroe and Ruthie Chadwick Walker. He was employed at Gulf States in maintenance. Mr. Walker was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maben, Mississippi, and he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by two his wife, D. Kathleen Walker of Starkville, Mississippi; three sons, Wade Walker of Eupora, Mississippi, Kevin Bing and Bobby Dewayne Bing both of Waterford, Mississippi; one sister, Juanita McIlwain of Starkville, Mississippi; one brother, Leon Walker of Pheba, Mississppi; five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodroe and Ruthie Chadwick Walker, and by his sister, Beatrice Bennett.

Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman for Hazel McArthur Bagwell, 96, who died Feb. 15, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. She was a life-long resident of Choctaw County.Ms. Bagwell was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, William H. (Bill) Bagwell; a daughter, Patricia Bagwell McIntire; and a grandson, William Shannon “Shan” Bagwell.She is survived by a son, Dr. Billy McArthur Bagwell and wife, Betty, of Hattiesburg; sister, Carolyn Middlebrook of Meridian; a son-in-law, Sheron McIntrie of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael McIntire of Tupelo, Sheri McIntire of Austin, Texas, and Rebecca Bagwell of Ashville, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving caregivers, Betty Evans and Lela Floyd.Ms. Hazel, as she was affectionately known by so many for her winning smile and hospitable personality, was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.Visitation will be held today from 9 to 11 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman.

Ira Lee Kirkpatrick Jr

Ira Lee Kirkpatrick Jr., 87, a life-long resident of Noxapater, Miss., died Feb. 15, 2011. Born July 17, 1937, he was a grandson of Dr. and Mrs. T.F. Kilpatrick of Noxapater and Mr. and Mrs. John Kirkpatrick of the Campground Community. His parents were Algy Myrtle Kilpatrick Kirkpatrick and Ira Kirkpatrick Sr. Brothers, Joe Davis and James Woodward, and sister, Nancy McBrayer, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lucille Graham Kirkpatrick; his son, Ira Lee III (Sharon) of McDonough, Ga.; daughter Lillian (Joseph) Mirando, of Ponchatoula, La.; three grandchildren, Lucy Mirando of Los Angeles, Lisa Kirkpatrick (Jantsen Haney) of Morrow, Ga., and Navy Airman Aaron Kirkpatrick of the USS WASP at Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Ann Fulton of Brandon, Miss.; nieces, nephews and countless family and friends of the church, the community and others whose lives he touched. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a retired educator, farmer and World War II veteran. His first teaching appointment was at Shuqualak. He taught at Noxapater High School from 1951 to 1988 and was a faithful member of Noxapater Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, taught Sunday School, led the Royal Ambassadors, kept the nursery with his wife, served on the outreach team and was a prayer warrior. He helped organize the Christian Ministry Center and volunteered as an associate leader. As a youth, he worked as a clerk at the Noxapater Drugstore and played football for Noxapater, East Central Community College and Southern Mississippi. In 1942-45, he served valiantly with the 104th Division, 414 Regiment, 1st Battalion Company A (Timberwolf) in the march across Europe. He witnessed the bombing of Cologne and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the fighting in the Ardenne Forest, the crossing of the Rohr, the liberation of Nordhausen concentration camp and the meeting of the US troops with the Russians outside Hallee, Germany. He was discharged Jan. 15, 1945. After the war, he earned a bachelor’s degree at Southern Mississippi, master’s in business education and counseling from Mississippi College and specialist degrees in education and psychology from Mississippi State. He also furthered his education at the University of Alabama. He taught history, bookkeeping and typing many years at Noxapater and had served as yearbook adviser and coach. He enjoyed tent camping and took his family to many interesting places in our beautiful country. He and his wife traveled extensively after their retirement. They enjoyed attending Ridgecrest and Gulf Shore Baptist Assemblies. Well-known for his love of the garden, he shared tomatoes, cornmeal and other vegetables with friends all over the country. He and his wife dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus for the Noxapater Christmas parade many years. He led a reunion for his immediate family every Thanksgiving, and he never missed a Kilpatrick reunion. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, Louisville, Thursday at 5-8 p.m. and Friday at the Noxapater Baptist Church from10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Noxapater. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Mt. Carmel Cemetery fund in care of Noxapater Baptist.

Mrs. Dorothy R. Vickers, 91, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at her home in Sturgis, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, Feb. 11th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Junior Davis, Rev. George Pugh, Jr., and Rev. Phil Fancher officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Vickers was born August 15, 1919, in Oktibbeha County, MS. She was a retired manager for the Mississippi State Food Service Dept., and was a member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Vickers, her parents, Annie Lou Hamill and Joseph Luther Crowson; three sisters, Margaret Cole, Mae Pugh Huss, and Ann Russell; and five brothers, Crandler Crowson, Joe Crowson, Bedford Crowson, Roger Crowson, and Charles Crowson. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Roy) Sharp of Sturgis; a son, Troy (Diane) Vickers of Houston, TX; a brother, Herald “Jim” Crowson of Willow Spring, MC; grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Sharp, Sonja (Sid) Massey, Anna Vickers, and Maggie Vickers; and 6 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Scott Sharp, Kevin Sharp, John Ethan Sharp, Sid Massey, Drew Massey, and James Marshall “Bachie” Vickers.

Mrs. Ruth Rodgers Stringer, 84, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Crossgates River Hospital in Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, Feb. 11, at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Scott Phillips and Rev. Bob Schwanebeck officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stringer was born June 17, 1926, in Louisville, MS. She was a retired school teacher of 31 years with Louisville Public Schools. She was very active in The Republican Women of Winston County, having previously served as president, and a member of The Fortnightly Club. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gene Stringer Sr.; her parents, Henry Herman Rodgers and Leita Louise Rodgers; four sisters, Julia Baker, Margaret Rodgers, Ellen Gross, and Hazie Furr; and two brothers, Henry Rodgers and Herman Rodgers.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Gary) Brewer of Florence, MS; a son, Gene (Linda) Stringer of Stockbridge, GA; and a grandson, Andrew Brewer of Clinton, MS. Mr. Bob D. Mitchell, 78, died Monday, February 7, 2011, at his home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, with Rev. Kent Cochran and Rev. Ricky McKay officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Mitchell was born June 26, 1932. He was a graduate of Louisville High School and Mississippi State University. He was a retired Chemical Sales Representative for Swift Co., and manager of the Winston County Co-Op. He was a Navy Veteran and served during the Korean conflict, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is preceeded in death by his wife, Deedye Boswell Mitchell; his parents, Early Mitchell and Marie McCully Mitchell; one brother, Henry Cooper “H.C.” Mitchell; and a nephew, Dennis Young. He is survived by a sister, Nella Dean (Charles) Whitten; a sister-in-law, Doris Crenshaw; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Boswell; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Judd Boswell, Zach Boswell, Mike Mitchell, Rusty Mitchell, Josh Wienner, Edgar Kinard, and Bill Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Classs of Calvary Baptist Church. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Sta-Home Health and Hospice. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or The American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Kaye Coward Reed, 62, died Saturday, February 5, 2010, at her home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Kent Yarbrough and Rev. Robert Cooksey officiating. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Murphy Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Reed was born January 14, 1949, in Louisville, MS. She was a graduate of Louisville High School, Class of 1967, and attended Jackson Commercial College. She was a secretary for Watkins, Ward, and Stafford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Prentiss and Joaquin Rosamon Coward.

She is survived by her husband, Randle Reed of Louisville; two daughters, Jenny (Justin) Caldwell of Columbus, MS, and Shara Reed of Brandon, MS, a son, Eric Reed of Louisville, MS; a brother, Forrest Gene (Betty) Coward of Utica, MS; and 1 grandson, Thomas Caldwell.

Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Saturday, February 5, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Bevill Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Mrs. Ragouillaux was born on July 7, 1953. She served in the United States Army, was of the Protestant faith, and by profession, was a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Ragouillaux is survived by her husband, J. C. Ragouillaux of Louisville, Mississippi; a daughter, Kelly Sealy of Mobile, Alabama; two sons, Kevin Sealy also of Mobile, Alabama, and Thomas Ragouillaux of Colorado Spirngs, Colorado; and six grandchildren.
