Mr. Steve Albert Mayo, 88, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2010, at Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Saturday, November 27, 2010, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jay Murphey officiating.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Mr. Mayo answered the call of his country during the Korean Conflict and during World War II to serve in the United States Army.
He is survived by five nieces, three nephews, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Steve D. and Eugenia Scott Mayo; three brothers, Loyce, Eldred, and James O. Mayo; and three sisters, Lillie Rose Mayo, Eunice Mayo and Opal VanLandingham.
Pallbearers will be Lester Griffin, Van Tharp, Barry VanLandingham, Chris VanLandingham, Neal Gregory, and Josh Mitchell.
