Mr. Ralph Massey, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2010, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Saturday, November 20, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Craig Springs Cemetery in Sturgis, Mississippi, with Rev. Eddie Agnew, Rev. Adrian Holley, Rev. Fred Frazier, Jr., and Rev. Dan Frakes officiating. Mr. Massey was a retired logger and a member of First Pentecostal Church of Louisville.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Massey of Louisville; one son, Larry (Gail) Massey of Louisville; one daughter, Daphne (Robert) Lovern of Philadelphia, Mississippi; three grandsons, Drew (Kristie) Massey and Josh Massey all of Louisville and Justin Lovern of Philadelphia; one great-grandson, Kade Massey of Louisville; two brothers, Paul (Claudine) Massey of Starkville, Mississippi and Felix Massey of Sturgis, Mississippi; one sister, Gladys (Clarence) Wiley of Starkville and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, J. D. Massey of Starkville; his mother, Grace Massey O’Kelley of Sturgis, Mississippi; and one brother, Birnes Massey of Ocala, Florida.
Pallbearers will be Drew Massey, Justin Lovern, Josh Massey, Ronnie Massey, Joe Shurden, Jr., Roy Wood, Michael Hemphill and Bud Hogan. Memorials may be made to Craig Springs Cemetery Fund, c/o Renee Pinnix, 3032 York Road, Sturgis, MS 39769. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, Mississippi, is handling the arrangements.
