Faye Smith White

Mrs. Faye Smith White, 87, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Dogwood Cottage at Winston Medical Center. A graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, November 2nd, at Covington Cemetery near Quitman, MS, with Rev. Perry Smith officiating. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Faye was born January 16, 1939, in Quitman, MS, to Virgie Louise and Louis Webb Smith. She worked at various businesses during her career, including TRW, Coleman’s, Yarbough’s Garden Center, was fondly remembered for her time in the deli at Gentry’s Big Star. She loved working in her yard and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert Conner White; and a son, Gilbert “Chuck” White, II.

She is survived by four sons, Thomas (Janet) White, Jason (Carol) White, and Shawn (Lori) White, all of Louisville, and Mark (Robin) White of Big Cabin, OK; seven grandchildren, Kelsey White, Dakota White, Shelby White, Trevor White, Max White, Marley White, and Bella White; and three great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Covington Cemetery in Quitman, MS.

The White family would like to especially thank Quality Hospice, the staff at Winston Medical Center, and Dr. Gentry for the excellent care they provided for Faye during her time at the nursing home.
