John Robert Tranum, 77, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi, with his loving family by his side. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 16 in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with T. J. Jennings officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Johnny was born May 22, 1947, to John and Carolyn Woodruff Tranum in Louisville. He was a 1965 graduate of Louisville High School, where he excelled in basketball. Johnny attended Mississippi State University for four years. For more than 20 years, he owned and operated Tranum Salvage Company. He then owned and operated John R. Tranum Parking Lot Striping Company. He answered the call of his country by serving two years in the United States Army in Germany.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Bianchi Tranum; his sons, John Robert Tranum, Jr., and Justin David Tranum all of Louisville; daughters, Mary Clare Tranum Ross (James) of Slidell, Louisiana; and Janet Carolyn Tranum (Jeremiah) of Oxford, Mississippi. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Carolyn Mitchell; brother, Paul Tranum (Judy); sister-in-law, Diane Bianchi Gray; and brothers-in-law, John Bianchi, Joel Bianchi (Tracy), and Bill Bianchi; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Leland Mitchell, Jim Bianchi, and David Bianchi.
