Roger was born March 9, 1944, in Steubenville, OH, to Averill and Amy Mills Williams. He was a 1962 graduate of Meadow Bridge High School in Meadow Bridge, WV. Upon graduation from high school, Roger enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and spent a long career in military service, having served in Vietnam and many other places. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 30 years. After retirement from the military, he lived in Florida for many years, before moving to Noxapater in 2021 to be near his daughter. Roger loved Noxapater and was a regular at Woody’s, Vowell’s, and the bank. He was a member of Springdale Baptist Church in Springdale, WV.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Eddie) Ellingburg of Noxapater, MS, and Laura Young of Blytheville, AR; and four grandchildren, Brandon Mayo, Justin Mayo, Brittney Leveritt, and Christina Young. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard Young.
Roger loved animals and the family request that any memorials in Roger’s memory be made to any animal shelter.
