William A. “Bill” Bowman

William A. “Bill” Bowman passed away at his home on June 25, 2024.

He was born on March 24, 1953, in Atlanta, GA, to Louise Aderhold and Ed H. Bowman. After graduating from Ridgeview High School in Atlanta, he attended Georgia Tech and graduated with a degree in Industrial Management, followed by a master’s degree.

After graduation, he worked for Touche Ross Consulting Firm, and Georgia Power Company as a business manager. During his life in Asheville, he was Director of Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain. Bill then served as associate professor at Mars Hill University, in the business department. His unique gifts and skills were applied to these varied professions, and he was recognized for his many achievements.

Throughout his life, Bill was active in Christian service and ministry to his churches. He served as deacon, Chair of Deacons, and Sunday school teacher to adults and children.

Bill loved his family’s location in Asheville because of the majestic mountains that surrounded them. He was deeply devoted to his family and prioritized family activities, such as hiking, beach time, and coaching his children’s sporting teams, including baseball and soccer. As an Eagle Scout himself, he helped his son accomplish the same goal, working as a scout leader.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Nell Graves Bowman; his daughter, Catherine; his son, Michael; brothers, Ed Bowman (Betty) and Ron Bowman (Dorothy); granddaughter, Gracelyn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A family burial service was held on Sunday, June 30, in Ackerman, MS.

The details for a memorial service at West Asheville Baptist Church will be announced at a later date
