Ralph Skinner

Ralph Donald Skinner went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 15, 1958 to Maxie D. and Maggie Anders Skinner in Ackerman, MS. He is affectionately remembered as a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend.

In 1976, Ralph graduated from Ackerman High School. He immediately began his career as a construction worker employed by several building contractors through the years before starting his own construction business. For more than 20 years, he worked as a self-employed contractor building homes for many individuals. Then, he began his favorite work as a self-employed excavation contractor owning bulldozers, track hoes, dirt pans, etc. Ralph worked for over 25 years in the construction business helping people’s dreams become reality by constructing beautiful ponds, house sites, shop layouts, and other landscape scenes.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 40 years, Theresa Perry Skinner, of Ackerman. He is also survived by his sisters, Donnell (Larry) Saxon of Starkville, MS and Shelia (John) Lance of Ackerman, MS, one brother, Dan (Suzzane) Skinner of Nashville, TN and a host of nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maxie Skinner.

As a member of Chester Baptist Church, Ralph served the Lord faithfully as a deacon for 38 years. He was also a Sunday School teacher and served in many other roles as needed. Ralph had perfect attendance in Sunday School for over 35years.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 15, at 12:00 noon. at Chester Baptist Church 177 West Road, Ackerman, MS. Visitation was Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Chester Baptist Church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, prior to the service. Burial was  in Salem Cemetery in Chester, Mississippi.

Pallbearers are Donald Saxon, Brady Lance, Drew Lance, Brandon Skinner, Jim Goza, and Dakota Brasher. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men’s I Sunday School Classwhich Ralph taught faithfully for over 25 years. 

 Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS was in charge of all arrangements.
