Florence LaFoxe Carpenter

Florence Lafoxe Carpenter Bilbo passed away on March 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 27, 1941, to Lannie and Bobbie Bowie in Greenwood, Mississippi.

Lafoxe loved gardening and quilting. She was an animal lover and cherished her dog and her cats. She made the best biscuits, Thanksgiving dressing, and cornbread.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Lauren Carpenter. She is also preceded in death by the father of her children, James G. Carpenter.

She is survived by Fred Bilbo; her sisters, Billye Anne Barfield and Jeanne Todd; her sons, Jim Carpenter (Amy), Tim Carpenter (Patricia), Fox Carpenter (April); and her daughters, Kim Swindle (Dean) and Kelli Stenovitch; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She loved her many nieces and nephews, her "bonus" grandchildren, and her classmates from Greenwood High School, Class of 1959.

A funeral service will be held at Salem Independent Methodist Church in Ackerman, MS, on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with the service beginning at 12:00 PM. Lafoxe's grand nephew, Dylan Todd, will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service at Salem Independent Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Johnny Bagwell, Bill Bishop, Mike Bruce, Billy Collier, Ricky Liddell, George Maddox, Steve Montgomery, Matt Ryan, and Jimmy Upchurch.

Memorials may be made to the Salem Independent Methodist Church Cemetery Fund; and Mom would love for you to support an animal rescue organization of your choice. Her pets were priceless family members.
