Funeral services for Ms. Roslyn Chauncey Burks will be held 10 AM Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Mars Hill Pentecostal Church in Winston County with Rev. Richard Burks officiating. Interment will be in Mars Hill Pentecostal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 PM – 8 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Mars Hill Pentecostal Church in Winston County. John E. Stephens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Burks, 85, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her home in Philadelphia, MS. She lived most of her life in the Alice Community, and she was a member of Mars Hill Pentecostal Church. Her hobbies were fishing, flowers and gardening, tending to her cows, and birdwatching.
Ms. Burks is preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Burks; parents, Martin Chauncey and Minnie Lee Chauncey; sisters, Fredlou Register, Beulah Carver, Dollie Mae Melton, Minnie Lee Manac; brothers, Dud, Isom, Martin, and Jim Chauncey; grandsons, James Eugene Burks, Adam Mark Wright.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Moore of Philadelphia; son, John Burks (Wanda) of Louisville; brother, Johnny Chauncey of GA; (2) grandchildren, Kristy Majure, Jarad Burks; (9) great-grandchildren, Riley, Paisley, Zoe, Kaydence, Adam, Landon, Hunter, Tanner, Aiden and a host of nieces and nephews and step grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Stenson Roark, Evin Roark, Kevin Roark, Drew Roark, Gabe Roark, Jared Burks, Matthew Roark, Troy Roark.
