Louis Kenneth “Kenny” Atkinson, Jr

 Louis Kenneth “Kenny” Atkinson, Jr., 86, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Davis officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow the service in Friendship Presbyterian Cemetery in Van Vleet, Mississippi.

Kenny was born on September 29, 1937, to Kenneth Atkinson, Sr. and Ethel Lou Clark Atkinson. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He answered the call of his country by serving in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy, from which he retired. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees traveling extensively throughout the world fulfilling his military duties. Kenny was a prolific reader and was a fitness buff. He dearly loved his family; he especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces.

Kenny is survived by his sister, Patricia Norsworthy and husband, Milton, of Cleveland, Tennessee. He also leaves behind three nieces: Melanie Norsworthy, Susan (Mike) Ellis, and Sarah (Michael) Venable; as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Clark Atkinson and his father, Kenneth Atkinson, Sr.
