Mary Carol Stokes Watkins, 77, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, in Macon, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 10 at Memorial Cemetery in Louisville with Reverend Charles Rook officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Mary was born in Homewood, Mississippi, on May 16, 1946, to Earnest and Bernice Boykin Stokes. She was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Mary was a homemaker and kindergarten teacher at South Louisville Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her two children Cindy Watkins Jennings and Scott Watkins and wife, Christina, all of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “MaMaw” to her five grandchildren: Savannah Watkins Fulcher, Carson Watkins, Sophie Watkins, Brady Gookin, and Katie Gookin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Watkins; her parents, Bernice and Earnest Stokes; her sisters, Hazel Wolf and Irene Bradford, and brothers, Billy, William, Jimmy Luther Ray, Marzell and Curtis.
