Rita Barrier Bouchillon, 89, passed away with her loving family by her side on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 12 at Union Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Greg Thomas officiating.
Rita was born August 24, 1934, to Odell and Velma Snow Barrier. She was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church. Rita was a retired nurse’s aide serving others at both the Winston County Medical Center and Tri-County Nursing Home. Rita was a loving wife and devoted mother who dearly loved her family. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and arranging flowers.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Marla Dell Bouchillon (Robert Spence) of Noxapater, Mississippi; and her son, Teddy Bouchillon (Tilda Bouchillon) of Fulton, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Maw Maw” to her two granddaughters, Summer and Samantha Bouchillon.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby Bouchillon and Fred Hollis; her parents; and her siblings: Van Haze Barrier, Waddell McAdory, and Wymouth Barrier.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in honor of Rita be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children—Galveston (Shriners Burns Hospital) online at shrinerschildrens.org.
