Charlye Sue Burton

Charlye Sue Lampley Burton, 95, formerly of Noxapater, Mississippi, died September 18, 2023, in Fort Myers, Florida, with her sons holding her hands, passing peacefully in her sleep just three weeks after celebrating her 95th birthday. She was born on August 31, 1928, in Noxapater to the late Bernice and Edgar Lampley. She was an incredibly loving mother, a devoted and caring friend to many, and an infectiously sweet and charming lady to everyone she met.

Survivors include her son, Edgar Leon Burton (Roy Gibson) of Sanibel Island, Florida, sister-in-law, Bettie Agnes Lampley, nephew, John Webb Lampley, Jr. (Leigh), and niece, Elizabeth Lee
Lampley, all of Vaughan, Mississippi; and numerous other family members scattered throughout the country.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her beloved husband, Leon Burton (of 42 years); and her siblings: sister, Mary Gwendolyn and brothers, Edgar Lee “E.L.” and John Webb Lampley.
Charlye Sue had a great love for all of her extended family and her family of friends. She was a woman of strong faith and belief in God and was a life-long member of Noxapater Baptist Church. All of her family and friends were blessed with many years of good times with great memories that will be cherished forever.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Noxapater Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm at Noxapater Baptist Church following the visitation. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Baptist Cemetery in Noxapater.
