Nancy Kea Swain


Nancy Kea Swain, a compassionate and dedicated individual who served as the director of nursing at Winston Medical Center, has passed away at the Dogwood Cottage on August 18, 2023. Born on February 17, 1944, in Jonesboro, North Carolina, Nancy leaves behind a legacy of excellence in her field and a deep commitment to helping others.

Nancy's educational journey began at Louisville High School, where she graduated with distinction. She then pursued her passion for nursing and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This educational foundation provided her with the knowledge and skills she needed to make a significant impact on the lives of countless patients throughout her career.

Throughout her life, Nancy exemplified the qualities of a faithful Christian. She was an active member of the Ackerman Church of Christ and drew inspiration from her faith in all aspects of her life. Even as a young woman, Nancy displayed immense compassion and dedication by assisting her aunt in providing care to the sick and elderly. This early experience set the stage for her future endeavors and instilled within her a sense of purpose to serve those in need.

As the director of nursing at Winston Medical Center, Nancy played a pivotal role in ensuring top-quality care for patients under her supervision. Her professionalism and leadership were evident as she guided and mentored fellow healthcare professionals. Nancy's commitment to excellence and unwavering dedication to the well-being of her patients earned her respect from colleagues and community members alike.

Outside of work, Nancy found joy in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Her grandchildren Clark Sullivan and Kayla Kea Sullivan brought immense happiness into her life. Additionally, she cherished the companionship of Mr. Ruger, her loyal four-legged friend.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Edgar Lamar Swain and parents Lanny and Edna Kea. They will hold dear memories of their cherished times together and the unwavering love they shared. Nancy's memory will also be cherished by her daughter Eva Swain Sullivan and husband Pat, her sister Lana Rosser, and her brother Randy Kea.

To remember and honor Nancy's life, a visitation will take place on August 19, 2023, at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 11:00 AM. Nancy will then be laid to rest in Mars Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Nancy Kea Swain's dedication to providing exceptional care to others and her unwavering commitment to her family and faith have touched the lives of many. Her legacy as a compassionate nurse and a loving individual will be remembered fondly by all of those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
