Delisa Lynn Peavy

Delisa Lynn Peavy, 63, of Columbus, formerly of Louisville died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at her home.

DD, as she was affectionately called by many, or as her neighbor’s knew her as Max’s mom referring to her Australian Shepherd that she so dearly loved, was never one to venture far from home unless it was a horse show with her daughter or an occasional beach trip with her sister. Delisa was happiest at home with her many animals thru the years sitting around her kitchen table in her sweatpants catching up with friends and family on the telephone. She worked for her Grandmother at Lucille’s in Louisville for more than 20 years and later worked for Jerry’s Flowers

A very talented artist, Delisa decorated many homes and venues for many events, from Vacation Bible School, to birthdays, Homecoming events to Weddings and her favorite, Christmas and for many years she was known to have the most elaborate booth at the Dixie National Horse show. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville and volunteered many hours at Winston Academy.

The daughter of the Late William Davis Metts and Shearer Baker Metts, she was born in Louisville, Ms August 26, 1959 where she lived until 2015 when she and her Husband of 43 years, Larry Peavy, moved to Columbus after their home was destroyed by the Tornado.

She was preceded in Death by her Grandparents, Garland and Florence Emma Wood Metts , Walter Fuller Baker and Lucille Gladney Baker and Great Granddaughter, Reagan Ruth Peavy. 

 Delisa is survived by her husband, Larry Peavy, Columbus, Daughter Brandy (James) Blanton, Louisville, Son Anthony (Kristy) Peavy, Hartselle, AL , Brother Derick (Pam) Metts, Starkville, and Sister LaShearer (Greg) Merchant, Columbus,

Three Grandchildren, Carleigh Blanton, Dylan(Merissa) Peavy and Chelsea (Nate) Johnson and Great Grandchildren, Willow, Grayciemae and Cheyanne and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Porter Funeral Home, Louisville, Ms from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm, in the Porter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Martin Lifer Officiating.

Pallbearers will be: Hunter Sims, Dylan Reed, Dylan Peavy, Jamie Merchant, Jason Ingram, Caleb Metts.
