Betty Ann Hunt

Betty Ann Hunt, age 77, passed away on June 11, 2023, at Winston Nursing Home Dogwood Cottage in Louisville, Mississippi. She was born on August 11, 1945, to Lester and Beatrice Walker Maddox. Betty was a lifetime resident of Ackerman, Mississippi. She was a very hardworking woman, working three jobs at one time in her life. She worked as a dental hygienist for 18 years and drove a school bus for 20 plus years. In her spare time, she was a home delivery driver for Meals on Wheels. When she wasn’t working, she spent a lot of time in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was most proud of the tree she replanted in her backyard that was found growing wild in her flower bed. Betty loved fishing and she went anytime she could. Her favorite place to go was to the mountains with her son, Warren. She was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by two sons, Warren Hunt of Ackerman, Mississippi, and George (Trish) Hunt of Meridian, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Josh Hunt and Sean Hunt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Beatrice Walker Maddox; her husband, Alvin Dwight Hunt; one son, Wendell Hunt; and one brother, James Douglas Maddox.

Funeral services for Betty Ann Hunt will be held, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11 am at Concord Baptist Church in Ackerman, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 10 am until 11 am at Concord Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Brother Roger Griffith and Brother Michael Bishop. Pallbearers are Jim Crimm, Stanley Maddox, George Earl Maddox, Davel Bray, Tony Steadman, and Billy Whittington. Honorary Pallbearers are Lamar Crimm, Charles Maness, Dan Wise, Buck Ray, Billy Wood, Jack Bowie, Jerry McCain and Gene McClure. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
