Margaret Eaves Johnson

Margaret Barnhill Johnson, 88, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 12 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark Mayo officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Murphy Creek Cemetery.

Margaret was born May 21, 1934, to Walter D. and Alma Smith Barnhill in Winston County. She was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and her Sunday school class. For more than 30 years, she was a Quality Control Inspector for Spartus Clock Corporation. After her retirement, she enjoyed canning vegetables from her garden and babysitting; loving each child she kept as her own. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Margaret is survived by two sons: Douglas Miles and wife, Debbie, of Mobile, Alabama; and Danny Miles of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma” to Lindsey (Will) Richardson and Lauren (Jeff) Crawford; as well as, her five great-grandchildren: Micah Richardson, Miles Richardson, Brynn Crawford, Hadley Crawford, and Case Crawford; in addition to numerous loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husbands Jimmy Miles, Ray Eaves, and Olen Johnson; her son, Donald Miles; her parents; and her siblings: Deanie Barnhill Shumaker; Ruth Barnhill Deen; Thaddeus, Max, and Eddie Barnhill.

Serving as pallbearers are Mark Barnhill, Scott Barnhill, Turner Barnhill, Tim Garretson, Nathan Goodin, and Joey Johns. Memorials in honor of Margaret may be given to Murphy Creek Cemetery Fund, 5420 Bond Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
