Kathleen Garvin White

Kathleen Garvin White, 95, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 23 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Bro. Kevin Williams of Belden, Mississippi, officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow the service in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Kathleen was born November 26, 1927, to Pat and Thelma McCoy Garvin in Newton, Mississippi. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville. Kathleen was an avid quilter and made many beautiful quilts that her family treasure. She was also a great cook and enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy. Kathleen loved working in her flowers, especially her daylilies. She worked at Garvin’s Grocery, which was owned by her family. Later, she worked at Spartus Corporation as a Quality Control Inspector. She was a very talented lady but most of all, she dearly loved her family.

Kathleen is survived by two daughters, Jeanith Laura White Burdine of Ackerman, Mississippi; Margaret Joy White of Louisville; her son, Jack Alan White and wife, Terri, of Louin, Mississippi; and son-in-law, Bill Cother. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Anna Beth Cother (Kevin) Williams; Jesse (Beth) Cother; Steven (Amanda) Miller; Leslie (Blake) Collins; Andrew (Jade) Miller, Melanie Overholt (Brad) Collier; Veronica Overholt (Jason) Martin; and Natalie White (Hunter) Jefcoat-. Kathleen also leaves behind 19 great-grandchildren: Sadie Williams, Paisley Williams, Russ Blankenship, Liza Kate Cother, Jacob Miller, Tate Miller, Lexi Collins, Hayden Collins, Miles Collins, Kaylan Collins, Liam Miller, Charlie Miller, Reese Collier, Mady Collier, Brooklynn Martin, Jaxon Martin, Beckett Jefcoat, Axton Jefcoat, and Adelaide Jefcoat. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrell L. White; daughter, Judy Lynn White Cother; son-in-law, Bobby Burdine; her parents; sister, Patsy Garvin Ellis; brother, Charles Garvin; and sister-in-law, Sue Garvin Ming.

Serving as pallbearers are Blake Collins, Bill Cother, Jesse Cother, Hunter Jefcoat, Andrew Miller, and Steven Miller. Memorials in honor of Kathleen may be given to Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Butch Miller, 32220 Highway 25 North, Sturgis, MS 39769.
