Idell Oglesby

Ivie Dell “Idell” Oglesby, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at her home in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Jay Murphy officiating.

Idell was born January 5, 1943, to Chester and Mamie McAllily Allen in Winston County. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked at TRW and Catledge Cleaners early on in her working life. Idell was an immaculate homemaker that loved cooking and entertaining friends and family. Everyone was welcome and she loved reminiscing about the past. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, keeping up her home as well as being the prayer warrior for her family and friends. She loved to travel. Her favorite vacation was in October every year with her husband Jackie, Jan, Jack, and Tracy watching God's natural beauty as the leaves turned colors in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. She helped with the upkeep of four cemeteries, including cleaning the headstones; and was known to place flowers on the graves of those that did not have any flowers. She enjoyed researching family history through genealogy. People from all around would call her about her genealogy research and she would go above and beyond helping them find what family information they needed to complete their research even if that meant traveling to other county’s libraries and cemeteries. Most of all, she loved her family and was an amazing grandmother.

Idell leaves behind her devoted husband of 57.5 years, Jackie Oglesby; and three daughters, Jan Hollister and husband, Dr. Jack Hollister, of Starkville, Mississippi; Tracy Reynolds Walker and husband, Wenton, of Madison, Mississippi; and Jackie Sullivan Holman of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Granny” to her 10 grandchildren: Dawn Graham, Blake (Brittany) McMinn, Ericka Doby, Traci Hannan, Trey (Lauren) Whitehead, Trent Whitehead, Brooklyn Reynolds, Jordan Sullivan, Morgan Sullivan (Ben Barrett), Lexie Holman; 15 great-grandchildren: Bradley Baysinger (Katelyn Hemphill), Wenton Walker, Dylan Walker, Swayze McMinn, Branson Baysinger, Presley Dill, Sage Linley Hannan, Peyton Whitehead, Logan Harper, Mamie Phillips, Kate McMinn, Eliza McMinn, Jack Allen Sullivan, Charleigh Whitehead, Haven Locke Hannan; as well as two great-great-grandchildren: Waylon and Kinsley Baysinger. She also leaves behind two brothers, Jimmy (Deanie) Allen and Lamar (Diann) Allen; one sister, Pat Tucker; and extended family members Johnny Sullivan and Mike Whitehead; in addition to numerous loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Bradley Baysinger, Branson Baysinger, Blake McMinn, Trent Whitehead, Trey Whitehead, Steve Allen, Ben Barrett, and Michael Tucker. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Allen, Colby Allen, Jason Allen, Peyton Allen, Todd Allen, Zach Allen, Johnny Sullivan, Benji Tucker, and Mike Whitehead.
