Eva Sue Morris Burt

Eva Sue Morris Burt was born on July 11, 1933, and was healed completely and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Kiel Higginbotham and Bobby Hardy officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi.

On July 11, 1933, Eva was born to Alfred E. Morris and Clara Massey Morris in Noxapater. She married Jim W. Burt on December 29, 1949, when she was 16 years old and joined him in his military career. They were married 71 years. Eva worked for Spartus Clock Factory when Jim retired from the military and they moved back to Noxapater, Mississippi. They loved traveling and camping with their friends. Eva was a lifetime member of Noxapater Baptist Church.

Eva is survived by her children, Teresa Burt Hardy (Bobby) and Tim Burt (Lori). One of her greatest joys was being called “Maw” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Tiffany B. Bruton (Shawn), Tyler Smith, Lara Burt Higginbotham (Kiel), Sabrina Hardy Smith, and Stacie Hardy Holland (Adam). Great-grandchildren are Kinsley and Riley Bruton, Taelor and Marley Smith, Carson and Brady Smith, Owen Holland, and Jett and Lake Higginbotham, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews who remained close to her and whom she adored.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wood Burt, Jr.; an infant son; her granddaughter, Briana Leigh Burt; her parents; her twin sister, Neva; and other siblings, Betty Vanderford, Edris Hodge, Mary Lynn Permenter, Cecil Morris, Hazel Young, and George Morris.

Serving as pallbearers Shawn Bruton, Brad Hodge, Sid Massey, Keith Matzek, Danny Mills, and Wes Stapp. 

Memorials in memory of Eva may be given to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund, c/o Noxapater Baptist Church, P.O. Box 251, Noxapater, MS 39346.

The family would like to thank the caregivers that have so faithfully cared for their parents.
