Bonnie Watkins Reed

Bonnie Watkins Reed, age 72, passed away on June 8, 2022, at Louisville Healthcare in Louisville, Mississippi. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 10 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Victoria Waggoner officiating.

Bonnie was born April 19, 1950, to Edgar and Mary Collins Watkins in Winston County. She lived in the Plattsburg/Mars Hill Community for more than 50 years. Bonnie enjoyed all types of needlework including quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She was an excellent seamstress and she worked for both TRW and Angelica factories. Bonnie also enjoyed cooking and loved spoiling her grandchildren.

Bonnie is survived by her husband Billy Joe Reed of Noxapater, Mississippi. She also leaves behind her children: Victoria (Neil) Waggoner of Columbus, Mississippi; Arthur Leroy Potter, III of Artesia, Mississippi; Betsy Reed of Noxapater; and her step-son Darel Reed of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Granny” to her five grandchildren: Aiden Reed, Lex Waggoner, Mary Beth Waggoner, Whitney Waggoner, and Shiera Hudson. She is survived by two brothers Lamar and Richard Watkins. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marjorie Thrasher.
