Joy L. Richmond

Joy Littrell Richmond, age 85, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi, with her loving family by her side. Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20 at Indian Springs Cemetery in Winston County, Mississippi, with Bro. Franklin Smith officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Joy was born February 11, 1937, to Fed and Omega Burnham Holdiness in Winston County. She attended Indian Springs Church of God. Joy worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Winston County Hospital and at home health services for many years. She enjoyed working in her yard and she loved to dance. Joy was an avid homemaker and loved to keep her house spotless.

Joy is survived by her five children: Billie Littrell Ward of Collins, Mississippi, Paul Littrell, Mark Littrell, and Stacey Littrell all of Louisville, and Penny Riser and husband Robin of Purvis, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Mawmaw and Grandma” to her 10 grandchildren: P. J. Littrell, Misty Walker, Kimberly Ainsworth, Marcus Littrell, Chasity Littrell, Kaleb (Rachel) Riser, Jacki Riser, Lauren Littrell, Nicole Littrell, and Jason Pearson. She also enjoyed her seven great-grandchildren: Hadleigh Thompson, Tori Sanford, Heather McDonald, Jeremiah Ainsworth, Hunter Ainsworth, Blaze Ainsworth, and Eli Ainsworth, as well as her two great-great-grandchildren Lane and Creed Sanford.

Joy is preceded in death by her husband Don Richmond, her parents, four sisters: Lois Shepard, Melba McCool, Gloria Heck, and Merle Jedrzejewski, and four brothers Roy Holdiness, Charlie Holdiness, Eugene Holdiness, and Sam Holdiness.

Serving as pallbearers are Marcus Littrell, P. J. Littrell, Kaleb Riser, Robin Riser, Jason Pearson, and Ronald Holdiness. Memorials in honor of Joy may be given to the American Cancer Society online at cancer.org/donate or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org/donate.
