Betty Joyce Smith

Betty Joyce Smith, age 74, passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at her residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 4 p. m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 5 at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 6 at Union Ridge Baptist Church with Bro. Greg Thomas officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Union Ridge Cemetery.

Betty Joyce was born March 30, 1947, to Cecil and Alberta Liston Smith in Sledge, Mississippi. She was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed any outside activities especially gardening, fishing, and hunting. As a homemaker, she greatly loved her family and being able to spend time with them.

Betty Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Rex Allen Smith, and her three daughters: Crystal (Mike) Clark, Tammy (Steve) Womble all of Noxapater, and Brandi (Derek) Wyatt of Philadelphia, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Mawmaw” to her seven grandchildren: Erin (Tristin) Fulgham, Aly Clark, Dillon (Madison) Womble, Dalton (Madison) Womble, Brice Womble, Blake Wyatt, and Celena Wyatt as well as her four great-grandchildren: Kipp and Shepherd Womble, and Annistyn and Jett Womble; and she was looking forward to the arrival of twin great-grandchildren in March 2022. Betty Joyce is also survived by three sisters: Etta (Fred) Daughtery, Mary Redwine, and Virginia (Bobby) Tutor, her brother Cecil Ray (Louise) Smith, and her brother-in-law Roger Randle. She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings: Jerry Smith, Roy Smith, Darryl Smith, Alice Winters, and Connie Randle.

Serving as pallbearers are Mike Clark, Steve Womble, Derek Wyatt, Brice Womble, Dalton Womble, Dillon Womble, Blake Wyatt, and Tristin Fulgham. Memorials in honor of Betty Joyce may be given to the Union Ridge Cemetery Fund, c/o Jamie Clark, 1629 Johnson 5 Road, Noxapater, MS 39346.
