Lowell Lavell Goodin

Lowell Lavell Goodin, 83, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at his residence in Preston, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Vernell Daniels officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Highway 397. Interment will immediately follow the service in Dry Creek Cemetery.

Lowell was born December 15, 1937, to Lavell and Mary Weaver Goodin in Winston County, Mississippi. He was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Lowell retired as manager of the Parts Department at Louisville Motor Company. He also worked as a radio broadcaster at WLSM Radio Station. Lowell’s pride and joy was his 1978 Ford Courier pickup and to his enjoyment, he spent many hours working on this truck. He had an outgoing personality and enjoyed meeting and visiting with people.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Carolyn Gambill Goodin and his son Gary Goodin of Brandon, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Granddad” to his grandson Colin Goodin. He also leaves behind his sister Nita Harris of Preston. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Ted Evans, Bryan Hailey, Wayne Smith, Robbie Sullivan, Roy Taylor, and Al Talbott. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Fulton and Ed Triplett. Memorials in honor of Lowell may be given to Dry Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Wayne Smith, 6628 Lynville Road, Preston, MS 39354 or to the Winston-Choctaw Gideon Camp, P. O. Box 556, Louisville, MS 39339.
