Norma Algood

Norma Sullivan Algood, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Dogwood Cottage at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Gross officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Good Hope Cemetery.
Norma was born May 9, 1940, to Marsie Richardson Sullivan and Tilton P. Sullivan, Sr., in Washington County, Mississippi. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She worked for many years at both Spartus Corporation and T. R. W. but her first priority was being mother to her two children, Wallace and Wanda Hatcher. Norma was a devoted caregiver to both of her children as long as she was physically able. She enjoyed singing and gardening but most of her time was spent with her children. Even though her life wasn’t always easy, she remained tenacious and a Christian woman.

Norma is survived by her daughter Wanda Hatcher of Louisville. She is also survived by her siblings: Darlene McCaffrey of Spring, Texas, T. P. Sullivan, Jr. and wife Betty of Louisville, Demetrius Hardy of Preston, Mississippi, Johnnye McMillan of Louisville, Paul David Sullivan and wife Patsy of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Rebecca Bush and husband Thomas, and Timothy Sullivan and wife Cathy all of Louisville. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Algood, her son Wallace Hatcher, her parents, her brother Euvern Sullivan, and three sisters: Dorothy Walker, Delaine Robbins, and Danyce McArthur.

Serving as pallbearers are Marcus Sullivan, Ricky Hardy, Steven McMillan, Christopher Bush, David Sullivan, and Brad Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Walker, Ronnie Walker, James Walker, Jeff Sullivan, John Sullivan, Charlie McMillan, Gary Robbins, David Robbins, Kenny McArthur, Gilbert McCaffrey, Tom Bush, Jr., and Dustin Sullivan. 

Memorials in memory of Norma may be given to Louisville Industries, 738 Old Robinson Road, Louisville, MS 39339.

Norma and her family extend special thanks to the dedicated, caring staff of the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home as well as Quality Hospice in Philadelphia, Mississippi, who loved and cared for her until the end of her life.
