Lois Bennett McGee

Lois Jean McGee, 83, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 19, 2021, at her home in the Four Corners Community. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 22, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bryan Madison officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will immediately follow the service in Old Mars Hill Cemetery.

Lois was born on May 16, 1937, to Dee and Ethelyn Shumaker Bennett in Winston County. She was a member of Mars Hill Pentecostal Church. Lois worked in various positions during her career. She served as the Lead Inspector for the Lee Clothing line at Nemanco, Inc. Lois was the manager of LeAnn Fabrics and also worked at Cato Fashions. She enjoyed sewing and was known for designing clothes, aprons, and accessories for the girls in the Four Corners Community. Lois was an active member of the Winston County Republican Women and served as the returning officer for Winston County elections. She enjoyed hosting wedding and baby showers with other ladies in the community; and was always ready to help with a benefit or fundraiser for families in need. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lois is survived by four daughters: Gloria Jean Chandler and husband Sam of Canton, North Carolina, Donna Lanell Kemp and husband Jimmy of Florence, Alabama, Daphne Juanita Partridge and husband Barry of Louisville, and Linda Jo Robertson and husband Mike also of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Nana” to her five grandchildren: Jennifer (Justin) Messer, Sean (Tonya) Partridge, Corey (Lindsey) Kemp, Courtney (Mike) Jones, and Jesse (Coty) Hand, as well as her eight great-grandchildren: Caleb, Nora, and Nathan Chandler; Molly, Anna, and Tanner Kemp; Olivia and Sophie Hand; Jase and Jade Partridge; and Levi and Bennett Jones. She also leaves behind by her sister Bonnie Boswell of Kosciusko, Mississippi. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters: Jennette Myers, Faye Manning, Billie Steed, and Betty Doty, and one brother Leo Bennett.

Serving as pallbearers are Nathan Chandler, Coty Hand, Mike Jones, Corey Kemp, Jimmy Kemp, Barry Partridge, Sean Partridge, and Mike Robertson.
