James Murray Hall, Sr.

Mr. James Murray Hall, Sr., 83, passed away on January 1, 2021, at his home in Louisville. A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 2nd, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Trent Jaudon officiating. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Murray was born May 22, 1937, in Mooreville, MS, to Annie “Polly” Lyle and Rev. Frank Hall, Sr. He moved to Louisville when he was five years old. He was retired from Southern Natural Gas Co, where he worked for 25 years. After retirement, he and his son owned and operated Hall’s Small Engines, until his health declined in 2014. He bravely fought a hard battle with multiple myeloma. He was of the Methodist faith, and was a Mason and Shriner for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his granddaughter, Kalee, who he affectionately called his “sugar baby”. He was preceded in death by two brothers, W. D. Hall and Frank Hall, Jr.; and two sisters, Hixie Clark and Hilda Eaves.

He was survived by his wife, Martha Stevenson Hall of Louisville; one son, James Murray Hall, Jr. of Louisville; a granddaughter, Kalee Jewel Hall of Louisville, MS; a sister, Helen DeWeese of Hendersonville, TN; a sister-in-law, Frances Bagwell; and a host of nieces and nephews who he loved dearly

The family would like to thank Quality Hospice of Philadelphia for their care and compassion, a special thanks to his nurse, Christy of United Medical, and also to Dr. John Whitecar, Jr. of Columbus and his oncology nurses, Missy Butler and Brittany Lee for their special care.

Pallbearers will be Justin Clark, Tommy Clark, Vance Eaves, Robert Eaves, Joey Johnson, and Scottie Wilson.
