Lyndia Gordon McCool

Lyndia Gordon McCool, 76, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 14 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Bro. Mike Dowd officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Bethsalem Presbyterian Cemetery in Choctaw County.

Lyndia was born December 16, 1944, to Hugh and Mamie Sellers Gordon in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She was a member of Whitehall Methodist Church. Lyndia retired from the Louisville Municipal School District after working in the school cafeteria and as a bus driver for many years. She loved to crochet and enjoyed baking. Lyndia also loved flowers of all kinds.

Lyndia is survived by her children: Dwayne McCool and wife Robin of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Suzette Freshour of Waynesboro, Mississippi, John Fondren and wife Cecelia of Ackerman, Mississippi, Mary Jo Miller and husband Matt of Sturgis, Mississippi, and Eddy McCool and wife Samantha of Weir, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Mamaw” to her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Judy Gordon Harper of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and son-in-law David Seward of Meridian, Mississippi, and her friends. Lyndia was preceded in death by her husband Darl Edward McCool, her parents Hugh and Mamie Gordon, son Marshall (Kathy) McCool, and daughter Susan Seward.
