James Holmes

Mr. James Holmes, 72, of Louisville, Mississippi, passed on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Graveside service and interment will be held Saturday, November. 7, 2020, at 11:00 AM in Memorial Garden Cemetery with Rev. David Harris officiating. Viewing will be held at the time of service. Affordable Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

James Holmes was born on February 28, 1947 in Winston County Mississippi to the late Eddie B and Beulah Berry Holmes. James was the second child born to this union of four brothers. He departed this life here on earth October 3, 2020 at Rush Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Clay-Holmes; his father and mother Eddie and Beulah Holmes and two brothers Albert and Ezell Holmes.

James joined the Wesley United Methodist Church at an early age. He attended Camille Street High School and later was employed with Georgia Pacific for approximately 40 years of service. He retired in 2004 and began to enjoy life as a retiree.

James was united in Holy Matrimony to Betty Clay in 1970. To this union one child was born Jamey T. Holmes. He enjoyed his farm animals, especially horses with his son Jamey; and two bothers Eddie and Ezell.

James leaves to honor his memory two sons: Jamey Holmes and Solomon Worthy of Louisville, MS; one daughter: Michelle Carter-Jordan of Noxapater, MS; five grand-children Carmelo J. Williams of Noxapater, MS, J’wanaque Mesha Triplett of Sumter, SC, Jasmine Holmes, Solomon Worthy, Jr. and Jeremiah James Worthy of Louisville, MS; One brother Eddie (Bettie) Holmes of Louisville, MS; four sister-in-laws Julia Holmes, Ruby Berry, Bettie Holmes and Ruthie Betts of Louisville, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
