Jean was born March 28, 1944, to William and Margaret Porter. She owned Jean’s Beauty Shop in Aberdeen, Mississippi. After her retirement, she moved back to Winston County with her husband, Charles. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in the Nanih Waiya Community. Jean enjoyed scrapbooking, country music and singing old-time gospel music with her friends. She had a passion for family and took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her daughter Lynn Riley and husband Dennis of Owensburg, Kentucky, and one sister Sara Goodin of Mississippi. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jake (Marci) Riley, Jessica (Jameson) Wilcockson, and Dayton (Jessica) Johnson as well as three great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Parkes, her daughter Jennifer Johnson, one grandchild Christopher Pennington, and her parents.
Serving as pallbearers are Dayton Johnson, Jake Riley, Jameson Wilcockson, Dan Parkes, Jason Parkes, and Luke Parkes.
