Oleta Chunn



Graveside services for Oleta Chunn will be held Monday, July 20, 2020, at 10:30 a. m. from Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia with Bro. Curtis Carter officiating. Visitation will be held at McClain-Hays Funeral Home on Monday from 8:30 until we leave for service. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge o f arrangements. 

Mrs. Chunn, 93, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 18, 2020.

A native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County, she was co-owner and operator of Chunn’s Grocery on Range Avenue for many years. She enjoyed fishing, square dancing, gardening, crocheting, quilting, sewing and cooking. Mrs. Chunn was a member of Southside Methodist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Carter of Birmingham, AL, Paulette Brackin of Philadelphia, MS, Pamela Gomillion (Brad) of Carthage, MS, Retta White (Allen) of Union, MS; sisters, Bettye Jo Coward (Olyn) of Philadelphia, MS, Mae Barnett of Jackson, MS, Faye Luke of Noxapater, MS; eight grandchildren, Lucy Finney (Patrick), Kyle Carter, Michelle Jenkins, Eric Copeland, Dalton Brackin (Audrey), Jason Gomillion (Ami), Audrey Ryals, Paul White; 13 great-grandchildren, Sophia Finney, Ethan Jenkins, Eli Jenkins, Camron Copeland, Erica Copeland, Noah Brackin, Ezra Brackin, Zachery Brackin, Jacob Isbell, Chase Gomillion, Landon Gomillion, Hunter Ryals, Delanie Ryals; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Chunn was preceded in death by husband, Paul Edward Chunn; parents, Edgar and Bettye Price; sister, Evelyn Hatcher; and brother, Edgar Price, Jr.
