Kathy J. Smith Carr

Kathy J. Smith Carr, age 68, passed away surrounded by her loving family Friday, February 14, 2020, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16 in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Wells officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Ellison Ridge Cemetery.

Kathy was born November 16, 1951, to W. T. and Olean Reed Hemphill. She was a dedicated member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church where she served for many years as the church clerk. Kathy also served on the Fellowship Committee and was always ready to help with any activity going on at the church or in the community. She enjoyed playing Bunko with friends; she loved to fish and went deer hunting with her husband. She also enjoyed gardening; working in her flowers; and crocheting until she was no longer able. Kathy loved to shop especially finding bargains on the sale racks!

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Dewane Carr of Louisville; her daughter Deby Carr; and her grandson Ric Cribbs both of Webster, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters: Elizabeth (Jerry) Kemp and Judy (Bob) Allman; and her brother Perry (Dian) Hemphill. Kathy also leaves behind eight nieces and nephews: Belynda (Michael) Petroski; Michael (Patricia) Kemp; Lori (Cliff) Luke; Breck (Melissa) Allman; Jay (Crystal) Allman; Chris (Carol) Hemphill; Jennifer (Jimmy) Collins; Felicia Jackson; and Keith Smith. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Wayne Smith; her parents; her brother Jerry Hemphill and infant twin sisters; her great-niece Kaylee Allman; her sister-in-law Sherry Hemphill; her brother-in-law Byron Smith; and her mother/father-in-law Glendon and Evelyn Smith.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Chappell, Robert Hisaw, Jacob Johnson, Brett Kitchens, Dennis Runyak, and Jay Stokes. Honorary pallbearers are Breck Allman, Jay Allman, Hayden Carr, Johnson Carr, Ric Cribbs, Josh Garrett, Chris Hemphill, Michael Kemp, and Josh Petroski.
Memorials in memory of Kathy may be given to Ellison Ridge Cemetery, 2659 Ellison Ridge Road, Louisville, MS 39339.

The family would like to thank everyone, both family and friends, who have stood with Kathy and Dewane during this time. Each of you has been such a blessing to us.
