Billy “Bud” Dewease, age 83, passed away surrounded by his loving family Sunday, February 2, 2020, at his daughter’s residence in Banner, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 8, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Noxapater, Mississippi, with Rev. Charles Rook and Rev. Kevin Chrestman officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9 a.m. until service time at Liberty Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bud was born January 12, 1937, to Bill and Lucille Livingston Dewease in Noxapater. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Bud enjoyed getting up early on Sunday mornings and watching preachers on television until it was time to go to church. He also enjoyed listening to country music and watching westerns. He loved musical instruments, especially the violin. He owned a collection of several, all of which were lost in the 2014 tornado. Two violins were eventually found and returned to him. Bud answered the call of his country by serving four years in the United States Navy. He retired after a lengthy career at Georgia Pacific as a Lead Electrician. Most of all, Bud loved God and was a God-fearing Christian.
Bud is survived by his loving daughter Lucy Hughes and husband John of Banner, Mississippi; two sisters Nannie Maude Reynolds and Dot Carter; and his brother-in-law Howard Duran all of Noxapater; as well as his nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann Dewease; his parents; and his sister Nina Duran.
Serving as pallbearers are David Boydstun, Phillip Carter, Corey Coward, James Coward, Steve Jones, and Pete Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Chrestman, Hal Estes, Allen Goodin, Mike Griffin, Ted Camp, H. B. Maxey, Ricky Smallwood, and John Winans.
