Boyd was born on July 16, 1925, to John Newton and Lessie Mae Robertson Duran. He was a member of Hight Assembly of God Church. For more than 25 years, he worked as a machinist at Taylor Machine Works. Also included in his work experiences was the time he spent working at Fair Lumber Company and Wells Church Furniture. Boyd also enjoyed working in his garden. Really, he just loved to work.
Boyd is survived by his daughter Maxine Duran Luke and husband Larry of Madison, Mississippi; and his son Larry Duran and wife Frances of Noxapater. One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to his two grandchildren William Stacy (Gwyn) Luke; and Michael Ryan (Leilani) Luke. He also dearly loved being “PawPaw Duran” to his two great-grandchildren Eli A. Luke and James K. Luke. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing a sister Mary Kugle; a sister-in-law Ruth Duran; and two brothers Howard Duran and Ralph (Murle) Duran. He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Pearl Duran; his grandson James Everett Duran; his parents; his sister Linnie Ballard, Gracie Kelly, and Nannie Baysinger; and five brothers: Homer, Horace, Lewis, Frank, and Bob Duran.
